Andi McNair, a teacher at Bosqueville Elementary, discusses genius hour, helping students find their passions, and making education meaningful. McNair teaches Gifted and Talented students at a small rural school in Texas, the same small district that she and her husband attended in high school.  For 10 years she taught 4th & 5th grade math before moving into gifted education.  As a parent of gifted children, Andi realizes the importance of advocating for gifted education. Andi has spoken at the Texas Association for Gifted and Talented Conference for the last few years and has also presented at the Texas Association of School Boards.

Steve popularized the idea of education "unconferences," built the first modern social network (Classroom 2.0) for teachers in 2007, and has run a large annual ed-tech unconference, now called Hack Education for the last 8 years. Steve has served is the Emerging Technologies Chair for ISTE, a regular co-host of the annual Edublog Awards, the author of "Educational Networking: The Important Role Web 2.0 Will Play in Education," and the recipient of the 2010 Technology in Learning Leadership Award.  Steve has consulted or served on advisory boards for Instructure, Intel, Microsoft, PBS, the U.S. Department of Education, and the U.S. State Department.

In episode 46 Pete and Zack talk to Sarah Thomas,  a Google Certified Teacher and leader of the Washington, DC Google Educator Group. Sarah founded the EduMatch project, and is the Technology Liaison at Maya Angelou French Immersion School in Oxon Hill, Maryland. She conducts professional development in areas such as Google Drive and Google Sites. She is currently a doctoral candidate, and her upcoming dissertation is rooted heavily in student-created artifacts through the use of project-based learning. Sarah is a winner of the 2014 Digital Innovation in Learning Award, and was named as one of the “20 to Watch” in 2015 by the National School Board Association.
